Today i am posting the 5th dish of goan cusine that is ambot tik

5. Shark Ambot Tik


Ambot Tik is a Portuguese influenced Goan dish. 'Ambot' means sour and 'tik' means spicy. Red chillies (Kashmiri) are used to add spice to the dish and Kokum (Garcinia indicia) is used to make the dish taste sour. Shark fish is diced and tossed with onions, tomatoes and masala.








Recipe

Ingredients
1/2 shark 
1 onion 
1 boiled and skinned tomato
2tbsp of oil

Masala ingredients

10 dry kashmiri chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
4 pepper
1/4 turmeric
4 flakes of garlic
1/2 piece ginger
tamrind in a small bowl

Procedure

Frstly clean and wash the fish and cut it into pieces and then apply salt to it and keep it aside. Meanwhile make a paste with all the main ingredients mentioned above with some water. In a big pan put 2tsp of oil and heat it, then add the sliced onions and stir it till it gets golden brown. Later add some tomatos and  fry it well for a while.
Then add the grinded masala to it and cook for few minutes and now add the shark pieces to the masala and mix them well and add some water to it and cook it in a low flame for some time till the fish becomes tender. if needed youall can add vineger or salt to it.
and Ambot tik is ready to be served...
